Biography
Arthur was born in autumn 1865, the second son and third child of George Bellamy and Eliza Thiele.[1] His two elder siblings, George and Edith had been born in Bermuda when his father, an assistant surgeon in the Royal Navy, had been posted to Ireland Island. The group of five then relocated to Vancouver Island when in spring 1866 father George was attached to HMS Sutlej and assigned duties at the naval hospital at Esquimalt.
While at Esquimalt, brother Hugh and sisters Gertrude and Alice were added to the family. Brother Francis arrived as his parents separated, with father George returning to England and passing away in 1875. The 1881 Canada census also included half-brother Edward in the family.[2]
Arthur Bellamy passed away in winter 1915.[3]
